Black & Decker has taken five popular home workshop tools and put them together into one compact, cordless unit in the Black & Decker 14.4-volt cordless multi-tool kit. The 14.4-volt model offers five interchangeable, locking heads that provide drill/driver, circular saw, jig saw, router and sander/polisher features. While not as powerful or feature-laden as most stand-alones, the multi-tool provides an excellent starting point or addition to a home enthusiast's arsenal. The drill head operates at variable speeds of 0-700 rpm. A 24-position clutch provides up to 115 in./lbs. of torque. And a 3/8-inch keyless chuck makes bit changes easy. The 3-3/8 inch circular saw features a 20-tooth carbide tipped blade and operates at 0-1,100 rpm. A spindle lock allows quick blade changes, while a thin kerf minimizes waste. The jigsaw features Black & Decker's exclusive, tool-free QuickClamp blade change system. A see-through bezel offers a cleaner view of the cut line, while a blade support roller keeps the blade straight for an accurate finish. The router features a 1/4-inch collet and spindle lock.  Nice Little Set December 20, 2008
All items work well, after buying a quick charger, I don't have any battery problems, Note: the circular saw only cut well thru wood up to 3/4 thick, would have liked a larger saw. There is one available with the larger set
Perfect for casual home repair June 6, 2007
I bought this over 4 years ago and love it. I'm not much into heavy-duty home repair but I have used this to build simple box furniture. I've had no problems with the drill, either saws, the sander and have not had the need for the router yet. The one battery did die on me fairly soon so I bought an additional battery and the better battery charger (recommended by amazon customers). As a young, female, condo owner without a lot of experience, this is my perfect tool. Oh, and my father is always trying to steal it.

After finding out that I had been secretly borrowing my brother's chop saw to cut shingles, he bought me this kit for Christmas 4 years ago. He showed me how to use each piece and forced me to return demonstrate them all back to him. I am in love with the circular saw!!! I have used it mostly to cut shingles for 3 sides of a summer house (saving me from having to hack away with a utility knife all summer)and also sheets of plywood!!! While it doesn't cut real thick items, it is perfect for most projects you will need around the house. The drill is great too. The jigsaw is jumpy and I am not nuts for it, but think it is because I don't really know what I'm doing. With a little practice you get used to it. Sander works great. I never really have noticed that the batteries run down that fast. I have only used the router once and that was fun. Doesn't take up much storage space. Perfect for condos/apartments. I am graduating up to a larger circular saw, but will continue to use this one for smaller projects. This is defnitely one of the best gifts I have ever received. Not threatening at all to women or first timers. Love this product!!! Am online buying one now for a friend.

I've been using this kit extensively for two years on myriad job sites. I'm now looking to buy a second one, because this one has held up so well and I want to keep one at home. I was skeptical at first that the snap-on head design was going to be robust enough for frequent use, but it's been rock solid.
I mostly use the drill, circular saw, and sabre saw attachments, but routinely find work for the router and sander. B&D calls the sabre saw a jigsag, but it's not remotely as maneuverable as a real jigsaw, an it's only anchored at one end. A true jigsaw has a metal platform and is anchored at both ends -- you move the work around the blade, not the blade around the work, as you do with a hand-held tool.
The rotary saw is a tad too shallow for 3/4" plywood. The safety interlock on the main tool can be frustrating if you know what you're doing, but I understand why B&D has to have it.
Buy a second battery. I find the batteries only last for a few hours of steady use, especially the rotary saw. The charger is pretty fast -- usually takes only a couple hours to get to 80% capacity. The remaining 20%, though, takes another six hours.

I ordered this from Amazon on April 11th and at that time they said they will be delivering the product by May 21st. By June 21st they send an email saying that product is not yet in market so need more time and hence need my approval. So the delivery date was postpine to June 19th. Later they again said similar reason and postpone the date to July 17th and when I enquired about the reason through a web posting (the same product is readily available with Uncle Joe's in amazon) they said they will definitly deliver this time. But now (July 10th) I again received a mail asking me to authorise for a later date. This time is August 22nd. I again send a web posting asking for the explaination for keeping me waiting like this. Every time I get a automatic type reply saying the same thing. When I trust Amazon I expect some punctuality also from them. right?
PLEASE ORDER THIS ITEM DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON ONLY IF YOU CAN WAIT FOR YEARS.
